It’s Walt Disney World’s newest form of free transportation…The Disney Skyliner!

Now to be honest I was a little afraid to try this new sky high gondola system that magically transports you to four resorts and two parks.

First it was a new system and probably still had a few kinks in it, and I wasn’t to sure about it not being air conditioned in the Florida heat.

So I summoned my courage and headed to the Skyliner and remembered what I told my then 10 year old daughter in front of the Haunted Mansion years ago… Disney will not do anything to hurt me! Guess I should take my own advice, right!?  So, after talking to a few cast members and figuring out what was the shortest ride…we climbed aboard at Epcot’s International Gateway for a ride to Caribbean Resort!

The Skyliner moves very slowly when you step on, giving your time to get seated.  The Gondola’s can hold up to 10 people…but I think that that would be just a little crowded.

I was pleasantly surprised that the cabin was cool thanks to reflective material on each gondola and air vents that keep the air moving.  But to be honest, we rode first thing in the morning when it was just a little bit cooler.  As we traveled, I will say it was an amazing bird’s eye perspective of Walt Disney World!

Our first stop was the new Riviera Resort, were we could get off, but we stayed on to travel to Caribbean Resort.  The stop for the Caribbean Resort is also the main hub where you can get off and transfer to get to Hollywood Studios, Art of Animation Resort and Pop Century Resort.

Now I know some of you probably heard that the Skyliner stopped for an extended period with people on it a few weeks back. Those kinks I was talking about.  I am just glad that Disney has figured out what happened and the Skyliner is back to operating smoothly again. Don’t forget just like any ride, it might stop for a quick minute as wheelchairs and such are boarded.

Will I ride again? Yes I would! It was a quick way to get to resorts and to Hollywood Studios and Epcot.  But of course, if you have a fear of heights or are just a little apprehensive, you can always take other modes of free transportation at Disney!

Oh and don’t forget you’ll find lots of cute Disney Skyliner merchandise in stores too in case you want to commemorate your ride!

Cheers for Disney’s Skyliner!
