We were excited to hear that Walt Disney World’s Minnie Van service is now available at all Walt Disney Resorts! So just what is a Minnie Van? We tried it out and have to say we were impressed!
The Minnie Vans are Chevy Traverses that are all decked out like Minnie Mouse! They are available from 6:30am until 12:30am daily.
They can hold up to 6 guests and come with 2 car seats. Certain Minnie Vans are available for guests with wheel chairs and scooters.
So how does it work? Simple…all you have to do is download the Lyft App to your phone and set up an account. Then just visit the front desk of your resort and they will activate your phone number. Once that is all done you can use the Lyft app to request a Minnie Van pickup. A ride has a flat fee of 25 dollars anywhere on Disney property!
Cheers tip: Make sure you select the Minnie Van Service in the App when requesting a ride, the first time we open the App it defaulted to the regular Lyft ride.
Our experience
We loved it! Although a few times the search timed out, we just hit the search button again and we got one! The app will tell you the number of the Minnie Van picking you up and approximate time it will be there. There’s even a map so you can see where your Minnie Van is located. We never waited more than 5 to 7 minutes for arrival and it is really cool to see it pulling up!
And the best part, all drivers are cast members and are really fun to talk with during your ride! Plus they will give you tips for travel around the resorts and parks, and we have to admit it, we felt safer knowing that our driver was a cast member.
We found that the Minnie Vans are really great to take when you are traveling from resort to resort for a dining reservations. So much easier than jumping one bus to another and it’s much quicker. And in the Florida heat it’s nice to arrive at your destination right at the front door of the resort!
So if you are staying on Disney property we recommend you give the Minnie Vans a try! After all what’s better than driving in a vehicle that looks like Minnie Mouse!
